J. A. Fair High School

Excessive rains fell over J.A. Fair High School in West Little Rock at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, causing a section of the roof to collapse at the north side of the building under the weight of the water. Two classrooms were destroyed and the roof was severely compromised. The school suffered water damage throughout approximately 90% of the building and sustained severe structural damage to 12,000 SF. No students were present at the time; however, approximately 15 staff members were inside the building when the storm hit, but no one was hurt. The reconstruction phase was successfully completed throughout the summer break, allowing students to return for the fall semester on time.
